关于词汇

首先是不仅要关注单个单词，

还要关注单词一起使用的方式。

注意

动词和介词（例如“‘to insist on坚持”），

常见搭配（例如“heavy rain大雨”）

有趣的语法形式（例如虚拟语气subjunctive mood）。

学生犯下的最大错误是：

他们翻译遇到的每个新单词。

许多年前，当我访问中国的一所大学时，

我看到学生们正在学习“shrug耸肩”这个词语。

每个学生都在旁边标注了中文翻译“上下移动”。

然后他们都开始用shrug这个词造句，

并做出了如“I shrugged my legs我耸了耸我的腿”或“I shrugged my hands我耸了耸我的手”之类的句子。

问题在于，

“shrug(耸)”仅与“肩膀”一词一起使用，表达“耸耸肩膀”。

耸+身体的其他部位是不可行的。

因此，不仅要翻译单个单词，还要寻找整个短语，

例如“he shrugged his shoulders他耸耸肩膀”或“he gave a shrug他耸了耸肩”。

这样，你就可以用自己的英语准确地使用这些单词。
